I started this blog in March of 2011 writing book reviews. But now, this site is dedicated to the music I will continue to make until the day I die.
When people ask me where I’m from, I always say Hawaii. I lived there for 26 years, from the age of 6 to 32.
I received all my formal education within a 30 mile radius. I went to Hauula Elementary, Kahuku High & Intermediate (go Red Raiders!), undergrad at BYU-Hawaii, and graduate work at the University of Hawaii.
In 1998 I started a band called Upstanding Youth with my best friends. We’ve recorded award winning albums, played hundreds of shows with world famous bands, and we’re technically still together.
I’ve traveled to or lived in Argentina, Israel, Egypt, Thailand, Australia, Samoa, and Jordan.
I’ve worked for Dominos Pizza, BYU-Hawaii’s newspaper selling ads, Kamehameha Schools as a Government Liaison Officer, the Department of Defense, State of Hawaii as a substitute teacher, owned my own lawn care business, and now I own a drone aerial imagery business.
In 2004 I married Echo, a woman I clearly don’t deserve. We have three children and currently live in Virginia.
