More Free Stuff

Marc-StackedLogo I planned to write about Dale Carnegie’s book How to Win and Influence People in the Digital Age, but I have no desire to write about that book right now.  For some reason that doesn’t feel like a huge priority – even though I read the whole thing, took notes, and planned out a bunch of posts.  Maybe later.

So instead I’ve spent time adding a ton of new free stuff to my free page and getting a new logo designed for the blog.  What you think of that new logo on your right?  For now, let me tell you about some of the new free stuff I’ve found on the interwebs.

First off, if you sign up here, I’ll give you this great PDF that summarizes all the principles I’ve written about on the blog and hyperlinks directly to the related posts...

Music Licensing Goals: Do You Need a Jingle?

Tools to help with my music licensing goals

Tools to help with my music licensing goals

I decided to put some serious music goals down during my recent time off from work.  I planned to give away three jingle-like branding songs to businesses that I like – for free!  I have 3 full albums and one EP under my belt and another EP on the way (see iTunes for Upstanding Youth) so I’ve had more than my fair share of the writing/recording/producing experience.  However,  even though I’ve written a ton of songs I’ve never made the jump into licensing because I just don’t know that side of the business.  So now that I have some time off, I’ve made some goals to change that.

Music Licensing Goals

I took my music licensing goals and reached out to three businesses: The Visual Art Institute of Salt Lake City, UT; Jaseboards; and Juiced Prod...

2012 Blogging Stats

wordpress-logo-notext-rgbThe WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The new Boeing 787 Dreamliner can carry about 250 passengers. This blog was viewed about 1,800 times in 2012. If it were a Dreamliner, it would take about 7 trips to carry that many people.

Where You Been?

I know I know. I don’t call, I don’t write. All I can say is I’ve been really busy on a number of projects and haven’t had time to write and I really miss it. I really enjoy writing about these ideas and when I read things that inspire me I get excited to write. But then life gets in the way. Don’t think I’ve given up – got lots of new ideas brewing. Enjoy this phot of the Lincoln Memorial until next time.

Leadership Principle: Own the Future

leadership principleDuring my daily commute my mind spins on ideas I’ve mentioned on this blog or ideas that need to be mentioned.  One leadership principle that has found a seat in my mind, made itself comfortable, and it immediately lights the flame of inspiration in my heart is the following.

The future is ours for the taking if we base our actions on proven principles of the past.

  • If you have passion, others will likely be moved by the reasoning for our actions.  I love to hear WHY people are passionate about the things they do.  Please share your passion with me; light my candle with your fire.
  • If you can clearly explain the principles underlying our actions, others will seriously consider following you.
  • If you can tell a story how this principle has proven successful in times past and how it app...

Blowing On Dying Coals

After many life changing events, to include the passing of my father, the birth of a child, and moving my family not only across the Pacific Ocean but across the United States, I’ve remembered this blog.  Like a fire that has some dying coals still glowing, I feel like breathing some life back into this project.

Dying coals

I’ve spent a good part of the past year or more studying leadership and becoming familiar with a range of principles I’ve found extremely interesting and valuable.  Next few posts will be about principles I’ve found valuable in Jim Collins’ book Good to Great and making the connections between those principles and other aspects of life.

Reset

I continue to have an insatiable desire to write.  I don’t know exactly what or why, but I feel like the ideas I’ve gathered are worthy of print and discussion.  I want to drag others into the conversations that rage in my mind..to unravel ideas and connections I believe exist.  With that in mind, it is time to reset this medium of expression since I deleted the previous attempt, reset it like an old Nintendo game console because the screen froze right when I was about to defeat King Koopa.
